Volunteering & Internship Opportunities

Thank you for your interest in working with the Hearst Museum. Currently we are only able to accept a limited number of volunteers and internships due to understaffing.

The volunteering and internship program at the Hearst Museum matches responsible individuals with staff members in order to carry out the Museum’s mission. The Museum accepts volunteers in most aspects of museum work. Volunteers have been placed in divisions including exhibitions, education and public programs, conservation, registration, collections management, and research.

All volunteer work is carried out under the direction of a supervising staff member. Museum volunteer hours are 9–5, Monday through Friday. Gallery Guide (docent) volunteer hours are during the museum’s opening hours, Wednesday through Sunday.
