It is impossible to acknowledge by name all of my Tzintzuntzan friends. But I would be remiss in friendship obligationswhich the reader will note are enormously important in Tzintzuntzanif I failed to point out that a very significant degree of my insights into how the community works comes from the good fortune of living in the home of Doña Micaela González, with her husband Don Melecio Hernández, her daughters Dolores and Virginia Pichu, and her nephew Amado González. The friendship of this remarkable family, and the dedicated and unqualified support of its members, have played a major role in enabling me to describe how a Mexican peasant community functions (1967).
