Men’s clothing is generally simpler and plainer than women’s dress. More responsive to foreign styles, from Central Asia in olden times and the West today, it tends to be tailored and fitted: loose or close-fitting shirts, vests, jackets, and trousers. Two important garments made of uncut cloth the dhoti, a wrapped leg covering, and the turban, an analogue of the woman’s head cloth.
