Rajasthani artists excel in a wide range of media, among them: stone carving, ceramics, metalwork, jewelry, woodcarving, textiles, and leather. Most of these items are made by professional caste specialists. Some represent common, everyday goods—such as the low-fired terracotta water jar. Other, more ornate items—such as the glazed faience vase—are intended more for decorative use, especially among foreign tourists and the Indian elite.
