During the late 1930s, Native Australians adapted their formerly ritual paintings (on bodies, bone containers, burial posts, house interiors) to the surfaces of eucalyptus bark for commercial sale. This painting was part of a collection of 38 items displayed at the Australian Pavilion at Expo 74 in Spokane, Washington.
