Beaver bowl
Northwest Coast, Alaska, Tlingit (att.)
Collected by George Davidson; acc. 1945.
2–19087

Northwest Coast peoples used elaborately-carved bowls like this during potlatch feasts. The U.S. Coast Survey sent Davidson to Alaska to make a geographical reconnaissance in 1866, the year before Russia sold the territory, as well as in 1868–69.
