Pot stand, bucchero terracotta
Italy, Tuscany, Poggio Buco, tomb A; Etruscan, ca. 700–575 B.C.
8–1518
This is from one of the relatively few documented tomb groups that Emerson collected. Tomb A was the earliest of the seven complete lots, excavated in 1896–97 and purchased in 1902. Bucchero, a dark gray ceramic, often imitates metal objects.
