Double-bird “pelta” palette; siltstone, ostrich eggshell
Naga ed-Deir, cemetery 7000, tomb 7008; Naqada I-IIa/b
6–4746
This palette was probably worn as a pectoral. Not only is it pierced in the center, but it is small, inlayed, and lacks sufficient grinding area. A “pelta” is an Amazonian shield of this shape.
