Oceania and Australia

Among the museum's regional strengths is the New Guinea area of Melanesia. In addition to several large accessions from the Sepik River, the museum has an important collection assembled by Bronislaw Malinowski in the Trobriand Islands. At 1,519 pieces, it is the largest of the three (others in London and Melbourne) made by the pioneering Polish-British anthropologist.
